The community-created Champions ladder is phenomenal with host bots spread throughout the world enabling competitive play between regions that simply cannot work with Battle.Net's limited location support, custom game ladders, enhanced profiles, and even live viewing of active ladder games through the game client! For a long time, I hoped Blizzard would come out with an update to match their work and unify the B.Net and W3C communities, but at this point, W3C has leapfrogged anything Blizzard has ever done before by such a margin that the alternative would always be a downgrade. The balance designers either left/got fired/abandoned the game and the current state isn't particularly great even at the low-mid levels of play, let alone the pro/competitive scene. Click to shrink. You say that like it's a bad thing, but the state of the game is that it currently needs a balance patch far more than it needs whatever half-assed ladder/profiles system that might be headed our way.
